It has been a challenging time for a lot of client companies and we are finding that an increasing number are subject to headcount restrictions or recruitment freezes that ultimately lead to operational difficulties. A survey in 2003 found that three-quarters of UK companies expected to implement a recruitment freeze. The report commissioned by Lloyds TSB indicated that a quarter of companies with a turnover of between £1m and £100m were cutting further investment for the rest of the year after sliding profits and falling sales.

One client company who are a subsidiary of a major multinational are subject to a headcount freeze imposed by their parent company. They have recently moved into new premises and centralised their Head Office and Logistics & Warehouse functions on the same site. We helped them by facilitating and managing the recruitment and employment of temporary contractors to get around the problem.
